By Plane
Freiburg is easily reachable from Frankfurt Airport (FRA), Zürich Airport (ZRH), EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg (MLH, BSL, EAP), and Karlsruhe-Baden-Baden (FKB). The airports are marked in the overview map. If in doubt, choose Frankfurt Airport as the destination of your flight.
You can rent a car at all airports but you typically won't need a car during the conference. We recommend using public transport to get from the airport to Freiburg.

Frankfurt. There are hourly train connections from Frankfurt Airport to Freiburg with a direct connection every second hour. Travel time is about 2 hours, a one-way ticket costs 57 € (international credit cards are accepted). Seat reservation is advisable. All trains to Freiburg depart at the long-distance railway station.
Please use the travel service of Deutsche Bahn to plan your trip. The station at Frankfurt Airport must be entered as "FrankfurtAirport". Do not confuse the station at the airport with Frankfurt's main station. If you don't like to plan ahead, then there are also ticket agencies right at the platform in Frankfurt. They can also do an express seat reservation for the next train.

Zürich (Switzerland). There are hourly train connections from Zürich Airport to Freiburg. Travel time is slightly more than two hours, the price for a one-way ticket is 40.20 € (international credit cards are accepted). You can use the travel service of Deutsche Bahn to plan your trip. The station at Zürich Airport is entered as "ZuerichAirport". Note that Zürich is part of Switzerland, so different visa conditions may apply.

EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg. Freiburger Reisedienst runs a direct bus between the airport and Freiburg train station. Travel time is about 1 hour, a one-way ticket costs 18 € (credit cards not accepted). Timetables: Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The same company arranges individual pick-ups from EuroAirport and other airports.

Karlsruhe-Baden-Baden. To get from the airport to Baden-Baden train station, you either use a infrequently running bus (25 minutes, approx. 2 €) or you take a taxi (15 minutes, 26 €). Credit cards are usually not accepted. From Baden-Baden train station to Freiburg, there are direct train connections every hour. Travel time is about 45 minutes, a one-way ticket costs 25 €. You can use the travel service of Deutsche Bahn to plan your trip. (The airport is entered as "Baden-Airpark", Baden-Baden train station is written "Baden-Baden Bahnhof".)
By Train
Freiburg lies on a main train line with frequent and fast long-distance train services to major German and other European cities. For timetable information, consult the travel service of Deutsche Bahn. Tickets can be purchased at train stations and travel agencies, from vending machines, and in long-distance trains (for a surcharge). All these places accept international credit cards. Traveling without a ticket in regional and local trains is usually not allowed.
By Car
You reach Freiburg on Autobahn A5, exit "Freiburg Mitte" (see the overview map). Parking can be a problem, so it is better to book parking from your hotel.
